Let me explain to you the situation I and millions of other people find ourselves in.
We have been unemployed for over 6 months, ‘living’ on 65 pounds a week if lucky, 50 pounds a week if not lucky/under 25.
We have sold all the tools we used in our last job as we needed money to survive.
The benefit we receive is not enough for us to get out of poverty, but enough to keep the youth from revolting (just about)
As time goes by we become more and more detached from society in general, we can not afford Christmas presents. Occasionally we fuck up and go to the pub or something, and then spend the following fortnight in real poverty.
The longer this goes on for the less likely we are to be employed, and then the Government has a brain wave, “lets give our rich multi national companies some free labour, we can make the people who are reliant on benefits work for them! We can claim it is a ‘training’ course on a ‘volunteer’ basis, but really all it is forced labour, brilliant! And because of the recession people will let us get away with this scandalous scheme mwahahahahahahahahaha”
So now we have mega rich companies like Tesco getting FREE LABOUR, as Karl Marx told us, all the working classes have of any value in this society is the labour for which they get paid. By taking away the value of this the Government has further undermined the working class. Now, imagine you are a cleaner at Tesco, we now find ourselves in the situation whereyou could be laid off on Friday, and on Monday when you claim benefits you could be forced to go and do your old job for the price of your benefits, saving the employer thousands of pounds on ONE PERSON. Now forgive me if I’m wrong but if a company needs to employ somebody, shouldn’t they pay for the labour required? I really don’t see how the economy is going to benefit from this scheme. If anything it is going to make things a lot worse. Why can’t people see this?
I am currently in the middle of legal action against the DWP, and am refusing to partake in the Workfare scheme.
